Our Story

The Association of African Women in Development (AAWID) is a non- governmental, non-profit, result-focused Organization registered and operating in Ghana since 2001.

AAWID seeks to promote the advancement of the disadvantage and the marginalized at the grass root level, particularly, the rural women and the adolescents in Ghana. As an NGO we advocate for gender equality and champion for the good health and rights of women and teenagers and assisting to financially and socially empower them.

With Your Help, We Are Making Wenchi A Much Better Place Live
AAWID has of late extended its operations to remote and under-served communities in our area of operation. AAWID has a strong programme focus on family life education, Sexual and Reproductive Health education including women’s health, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB and Malaria prevention activities. We also focus on Gender Issues (sensitization on women’s rights including gender- based violence) and we have over 100 groups who serve as the first point of contact in the dissemination of our advocacy campaigns.
